The Section on Location Analysis (SOLA) of INFORMS solicits nominations for the Lifetime Achievement in Location Analysis (LALA) award. The LALA award is a triennial honor awarded to a person who has made significant lifetime contributions to location analysis research. The award is given every third year at the closing dinner of ISOLDE, the International Symposium on Locational Decisions, which this year will be held in Naples and Capri, Italy, from June 16-20.
Nominees should have a distinguished record in location analysis over an extended period of time. The committee will consider all contributions to the field of locational analysis. While research will carry the most significant weight (and will be assessed using multiple dimensions--number and significance of papers, book chapters, books, PhD students, etc.), contributions to teaching (textbooks, teaching-related articles, teaching workshops, etc.), and to service (special issues edited, conferences organized, etc.) will be taken into account, as well.
Nominations consist of a letter from the nominator(s). Nominees may be asked to provide a curriculum vita as well as a summary of contributions.
Please submit nominations by March 31, 2014 to [email protected]. Questions may be submitted to the same e-mail address. Once nominations are received, a committee of three prominent location researchers who were not nominated and are not closely affiliated with a nominee will convene to determine the winner. According to the SOLA bylaws, at least one former LALA winner will serve on the committee.
