Symposium on Operations Research and the Criminal Justice System
The National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the research, development and evaluation arm of the U.S. Department of Justice, and WINFORMS, the Washington, DC chapter of INFORMS, announce a symposium on OR Applied to Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, to be held at the Holiday Inn National Airport in Arlington, VA, on September 28-29, 2006.
The program will include presentations of current work and two "challenge workshops" featuring existing problems proposed by highly experienced criminal justice practitioners. Any OR professional is invited to respond with a short explanation, up to four pages, on how he or she would solve one of the problems. For each challenge problem, two solutions will be chosen for presentation at the Symposium.
Details are available on the NIJ web site, http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/nij, and the WINFORMS web site, http://winforms.chapter.informs.org. For further information, contact Iara Infosino, [email protected].
