2007 International Conference on Life System Modeling and Simulation (LSMS) aims to bring together researchers and practitioners in the field of life system modeling and simulation as well as life system inspired theory and methodology from all over the world. It builds upon the success of an early LSMS workshop held in Shanghai, China, 2004. The LSMS conference technical exchanges within the research community will carry on in the forms of keynote speeches, panel discussions, special sessions, tutorial workshops, as well as poster presentations. In addition, participants will be treated with a series of social functions, receptions and networking sessions, which will serve as a vital channel to establish new connections, foster everlasting friendships, and forge collaborations among fellow counterparts.
The concept of life system is quite broad. It may consist of both micro and macro components from cells, tissues, organs to organisms and ecologic niches, which interact and evolve to make a whole system most complicated to comprehend and predict. The turn of the 21st century has been marked by a resurgence of interest in achieving a systems-level understanding of biology and applying such understanding in complex real-world applications. Consequently, computational methods and intelligence in systems biology and bio-inspired computational intelligence emerge as key roles in pursuing for novel computational methodology. Papers related to these two themes are especially solicited, including theories, methodologies, and real-world applications.
